Subsea Umbilical Winches

In-house engineered constant-tension umbilical winches for the deployment and recovery of downhole tools, CPT and SBF umbilicals, ROV tethers and small-diameter subsea cables — built around state-of-the-art smart-winch innovations to deliver direct, precise control of speed and tension in challenging offshore environments.

Dimension's subsea umbilical winches are self-contained — no external sensors or auxiliary components required — and are sized for fast container mobilisation. Closed-loop tension control is intelligently managed by an industrial PLC and exposed through a touch-screen HMI which displays diagnostic information and allows operators to govern parameters from local or remote (50 m) positions. The first production build was delivered to Geoquip Marine AG in 2015 as part of the wider GMTR-150 deepwater geotechnical drilling spread.

The 40 kN CT Umbilical Winch was supplied as part of Dimension's wider engineering and build scope for the Geoquip Marine AG GMTR-150 deepwater geotechnical drilling system — alongside the 150 MT pull drill-string heave compensation system, 150 MT power swivel, SBF compensation system, traction winches, project containers and HPU/control modules. The winch is sized for safe, reliable downhole tool deployment with PLC-managed constant-tension control and a 75 kW motor delivering best-in-class speed and pull.
