1,000 MT Modular Turntable — FEA structural analysis
Storage

Turntables

Smaller-footprint rotating storage for cables, umbilicals and short batches. Featured build: 1,000 MT Modular Turntable.

Overview

Turntables

Turntables provide a more compact alternative to full carousels for shorter cable lengths, repair spreads and umbilical batching. Available in fixed-axis and gimballed variants for vessel motion compensation.

  • Modular & container-mobilisable — sub-assemblies size to 40-ft container; full spread mobilises and commissions in 48 hours on PSVs, work barges and pipe-lay vessels.
  • FEA-validated structural design — radial spoked shell with CNC-machined slewing bearing; full Abaqus / FEA stress analysis run for design optimisation.
  • 2 × 55 kW VFD drive — synchronised electric drive accelerates the turntable to 1 rpm under full cable stack; quick-connect sockets throughout.

Key Features

  • 1,000 MT capacity — upgradeable, with cable tank operated directly for quick mobilisation
  • Modular sub-assemblies break down to 40-ft container shipment
  • Mobilised, set up and commissioned within 48 hours on a multitude of vessels — PSVs, work barges, pipe-lay vessels, or shore
  • 2 × 55 kW VFD electric drive motors — top rotation speed up to 1 rpm
  • FEA-validated radial spoked structure with CNC-machined slewing ring
  • Quick-connect electrical sockets — easy field access for tweaking and diagnostics
  • Operates in harsh environments at shallow to ultra-deep-water depths
  • Self-contained package — controls, motors and loading arm shipped together
  • Compact alternative to large-diameter carousels; lower mass per ton stored
  • Optional gimbal for vessel-motion compensation; modular slip-ring options for live-cable storage

1,000 MT Modular Turntable

Modular umbilical & cable turntable · DP1 cable-laying duty · 2 × 55 kW VFD · 40-ft container mobilisable · 48-hour commissioning

The Modular Turntable is one of Dimension Consultants' core products — an umbilical and cable turntable system with a capacity of up to 1,000 MT (upgradeable). The modular system provides a fast, reliable and safe solution for one of the most challenging tasks in subsea operations. The unit can be operated with the cable tank directly for quick mobilisation. Engineered to be modular and flexible such that it can be quickly mobilised in 40-ft containers to a multitude of vessels including PSVs, work barges and pipe-lay vessels, and operate in harsh environments at both shallow and ultra-deep-water depths. Alternatively, the system can be set up and operated on shore. Comprising 2 powerful 55 kW motors, the system can quickly accelerate to its top speed of up to 1 rpm. The carousel is composed of smaller units, each of which can be easily disassembled for transportation; the entire package — including controls, motors and loading arm — is shipped together. Connections are designed for easy field access with provisions for minor in-field tweaking; electrical connections are all quick-connect sockets, and the entire system can be mobilised and commissioned in 48 hours. Featured as the main image: the FEA structural optimisation run on the radial shell.
