4,000 → 7,000 MT capacity uplift on the existing hull. Dimension's 19 m midsection extension — instead of a newbuild — gave LSMS a 7,000 MT carousel and a 100 MT offshore crane for deep Vertical Injector ops, validated to Bureau Veritas AIP for FID.
LSMS needed to lift their cable-lay capacity from 4,000 MT to 7,000 MT and add a 100 MT offshore crane to handle deep Vertical Injector operations. The orthodox answer was to commission a larger newbuild — a multi-year, multi-million-dollar capex line. Dimension proposed an innovative 19 m midsection extension on the existing barge, sized to take the new 7,000 MT carousel, the 100 MT crane and the full cable-lay spread. The concept was carried through to Bureau Veritas Approval in Principle (AIP), giving LSMS the structural and class confidence to take Final Investment Decision (FID) without buying another vessel.
Dimension Consultants was awarded the GL2030 programme by LS Marine Solution (LSMS) to extend the existing dumb barge by 19 m at the midsection to accommodate the cable-lay equipment, and to convert it into a DP2-certified cable-lay barge. The scope also includes fabrication of a new raised deck and an accommodation block.
In addition to the barge extension and conversion, Dimension is responsible for the supply and installation of the full cable-lay equipment package — carousel, loading tower, chute, quadrant, trolley — plus key vessel equipment such as thrusters and cranes. Project Management, Engineering, Fabrication, FAT, SAT and Commissioning are all delivered by Dimension under Bureau Veritas (BV) class.
